Basake Holy Stars head coach Augustine Evans Adotey has stepped down from his role following a disappointing run of results in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
The Anyinase-based club has struggled under the experienced tactician, recording just one win, three draws, and six defeats in their opening ten matches. With only six points, Holy Stars sit in the relegation zone, a situation that has caused growing frustration among supporters and the club’s leadership.
Amid the team’s poor start to the campaign, Adotey has decided to resign. He joined Holy Stars on a three-year contract, replacing Abdulai Gazale, who departed in June to become assistant coach at Hearts of Oak.
Despite his vast coaching experience, including notable work with Medeama and the Black Queens, Adotey was unable to secure consistent results for the Ghana Premier League newcomers, ultimately leading to his exit.
Assistant coach Johnson Smith is expected to assume temporary charge while the club begins the search for a new head coach. The incoming manager will face the immediate challenge of revitalizing the team and steering them clear of relegation as the season progresses.
