Everton have completed the loan signing of England Under-21 international of Ghanaian descent Tyrique George from Chelsea for the remainder for the 2025/26 season, with an option to make the move permanent this summer.

George, an explosive and skilful 19-year-old who is capable of playing across the attacking line, joins the Blues on the final day of the winter transfer window and will be eligible to make his Club debut at Fulham on Saturday.

After sealing his move to the Toffees, George – who will wear the number 19 shirt – told evertontv: “I’m really excited to be here and to enjoy this massive club. I just can’t wait to get started.

“The fans here are exceptional. I know Evertonians are really passionate. They like hard work – and that’s what I’m going to show. I want to be exciting and I want to impress them.

“The gaffer, David Moyes, was another reason [I wanted to join]. He’s an amazing manager who has coached so many players, like Wayne Rooney, and players like that. I’ve had a brief conversation with him and he’s an amazing person as well.

“I just want to enjoy it, learn under him and improve.”

London-born George joined Chelsea’s academy aged eight and rose through the ranks. Coincidentally, the first time he was named on the bench for the senior side came against Everton in April 2024.

He made his first-team debut for the west London side in a Conference League play-off round four months later, at the beginning of what became a breakthrough 2024/25 season.

George played in 12 of 13 games – starting eight alongside new Toffees teammate Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – as Chelsea went all the way to clinch the UEFA Conference League title, as well as making two appearances in the triumphant FIFA Club World Cup campaign later that summer.

In the Premier League, George made eight outings last term, notching a maiden top-flight goal in crucial circumstances, stepping off the bench to equalise in an eventual win over London rivals Fulham.

In 2025/26, he made a further 11 Chelsea appearances, producing three goals – including one in the Champions League – and one assist in just 492 minutes of action.

“I feel ready, ready to make an impact,” continued George. “It feels like an exciting time for the Club.

“I’m going to attack this new challenge. I want to hit the ground running as quickly as possible and hopefully I can do that.

“I’ve seen some pictures of [Hill Dickinson Stadium]. It’s massive and looks amazing, so I’m really looking forward to playing there.”

George has represented England throughout youth levels and is currently a regular for the Under-21s, where he is a teammate of Everton winger Tyler Dibling.

Looking to the future, George added: “Getting European football for next season is a good target for us and I know everyone will be working hard to achieve it.

“I want to come here and help the team win as many games as possible and keep climbing up the table.”

Discussing Everton’s new addition, manager David Moyes said: “We are pleased to have signed Tyrique on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the season.

“Tyrique is a versatile forward who can play all across the front line. I hope he will settle quickly into our squad, and the support from our fans will definitely help him feel at home. We are looking forward to working with him.”
