Just like many struggling young men in Ghana who can’t keep a demanding woman, goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey has shared the ordeal he went through.
The former Dreams FC goalkeeper revealed that he has also been a victim to what we call sugar daddy as the rice man snatched his girlfriend with his financial muscles.
Lord Bawa Martey revealed in an interview with Saddick Adams that his popularity somehow sustained the relationship at the initial stage but not being able to provide brought frustrations in their “union”.
The lady eventually left when she made someone who could cater for her financial needs.
“Someone simply snatched my girlfriend. She left me because of money. In the beginning, she was all cool because of the publicity I was getting but publicity wasn’t enough to keep her.”
“She complained a lot and I was always giving excuses about bad salaries so when a rich man came she left. I don’t fault her,” he said.
Bawa also spoke about the nation that Ghana Premier League players are womanizers.
“It’s not easy having a girlfriend in this setting. We are often accused of being womanizers but it’s not true. Assuming I’m playing for a team in Tamale and I’m on a GH₵500 a month salary and by grace, I get to date a waakye seller who gifts me waakye for free, I will have to work for it.”
