Ibrahim Sannie Daara, former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has endorsed the inclusion of Richmond Lamptey in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Lamptey, currently showcasing outstanding performances with Asante Kotoko in the ongoing 2023/24 Ghana Premier League, has garnered attention from football enthusiasts who are advocating for his place in the national team.
After Lamptey’s remarkable display in the matchday 14 clash against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium, calls for his inclusion in the Black Stars squad have intensified.
Sannie Daara, a respected figure in CAF Media Communications, expressed his support for Lamptey, stating, “Going by the recent Black Stars squad call-ups, I strongly believe that Richmond Lamptey deserves a place in the team.”
Prominent figures in Ghanaian football, including Kwabena Yeboah, Isaac Opeele Boateng, Charles Taylor, and coach Michael Osei, have also voiced their endorsement for Lamptey’s inclusion.
The 2023 AFCON is slated to commence on January 13 in Ivory Coast, where Ghana will contend with Cape Verde, Mozambique, and Egypt in the group stage. Ghana’s coach, Chris Hughton, is anticipated to reveal the squad later this month for the upcoming tournament.
