The former skipper of the Black Stars is believed to have firmly concluded on his decision to contest as a member of parliament in the upcoming elections, Sportsworldghana.com understands.

Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has decided to contest as an Independent Candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency ahead of the 2024 Elections.

Appiah, who led Ghana to their maiden participation in FIFA World Cup in 2006, will have to shrug off competitions from incumbent Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the NPP and highly-rated John Dumelo of the NDC fame.

Although, the constituency is largely dominated by the New Patriotic Part and National Democratic Congress, Appiah and his team believe he stand a chance of upsetting the two parties due to his influence during his playing days.
