Former Ghana goalkeeper, Abukari Damba has expressed dissatisfaction at Thomas Partey’s ‘poor’ performance in the 2021 AFCON opener against Morocco.

Ghana, four-time African champions succumbed to Soufiane Boufal’s late second half goal at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in the opening Group C game on Monday.

It was a performance football pundits, fans and Ghanaians at large were not very impressed with as the North Africans were statistically superior to Ghana.

Damba, who worked a pundit on GTV Sports Plus, was left disappointed with the Arsenal midfielder’s output.

“The level of [Thomas] Partey and the kind of respect that Partey commands, I personally wanted to see something more from Partey,” Abukari Damba told GTV Sports Plus.
“I wanted Partey to come receive the ball and initiate the moves.

“Because you have everything but I did not see any of that.

“Stringing two, three, four passes, meaningful passes, there was none.

“The writer[referring to host, Kwabena Yeboah], we have a big challenge at hand and we need to wake up to the reality and it is the responsibility of the players to do this.”Abukari Damba added.

Ghana will next play Aubameyang’s Gabon on Friday.

Milovan Rajevac and his charges must record positive results against Gabon and Comoros in their last two group C games to help them seal passage to the next phase of the tournament.
