English-born Ghanaian defender, Josh Acheampong is full of excitement after signing a new five-year deal at Chelsea.
The teen sensation was on the verge of leaving the club following earlier unsuccessful talks between the club and his representatives.
However, following his impressive performances for the club at both the youth and senior teams, he was rewarded a deal until the summer of 2029.
“’m so pleased to announce that I have signed a new contract with my boyhood club. Excited for this new chapter. It means so much and can’t wait to continue this journey,” said the 18=year-old.
Acheampong started his career at Stamford Bridge with the developmental side before going through the ranks to feature for the U18, U21 and recently the first team.
He made his senior debut in a game against Tottenham and has been consistent on Enzo Maresca’s team sheet.
He starred for the Blues in the game against Astana as the London club progressed to the knockout stage of the competition.
Acheampong has represented England at youth level, playing a role at the U17 World Cup in Indonesia in 2022, but remains eligible to feature for Ghana’s Black Stars.
