Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Frank Azuma Boateng has been appointed as the club’s new Team Manager ahead of the upcoming football season, SportsWorldGhana.com can report.
Boateng, popularly known as “Teacher” among the Porcupine Warriors faithful, returns to the club in a new capacity after enjoying a successful spell as a player in the famous red jersey.
He takes over from former Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong, who has relocated to Germany, bringing an end to his time in the team management position.
The appointment marks a homecoming for Boateng, who understands the culture and expectations of Ghana’s most successful club after representing Kotoko during his playing career.
Born on August 17, 1984, Frank Azuma Boateng was a talented midfielder known for his energy, technical ability and work rate in the middle of the pitch.
He began his football journey with Zaytuna FC, where he developed his skills before moving to Sporting Mirren in the Ghana Premier League.
After an impressive spell, Boateng earned a move to Asante Kotoko in 2009, where he became an important member of the squad. He made 33 appearances for the club and scored 3 goals before moving to Libyan side Al Egtmaaey Tripoli.
Boateng also earned recognition at the international level, making an appearance for the Ghana national team in 2009 after being called up for a friendly match against Argentina.
Having worn the Kotoko shirt and experienced the demands of playing for the club, Boateng is expected to provide leadership, support player welfare and help strengthen the relationship between the technical team and the squad.
His appointment is part of Kotoko’s efforts to build a strong structure around the team as they prepare for the new campaign.
The former midfielder will now begin a new chapter with the Porcupine Warriors, transitioning from a player who once fought for victories on the pitch to an administrator responsible for guiding the team off it.
