Asante Kotoko have set their sights on signing promising midfielder Hubert Gyau Banahene from Berekum Chelsea, sources close to the deal have revealed to Sportsworldghana.com.

The 19-year-old’s impressive form for the Bibires in the just-ended season has caught the attention of the Porcupines, who are eager to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Kotoko have been busy in the transfer market after releasing 18 first-team players following a disappointing 2023/24 season. The Ghanaian giants are now focused on securing the services of Gyau, who was outstanding for Berekum Chelsea throughout the season.

The young midfielder, who has already gained experience with the Black Satellites, was instrumental in his team’s Premier League survival and also impressed with his goal-scoring exploits, netting one goal in 11 matches. His outstanding performances earned him five man-of-the-match awards, making him a hot property in the Ghanaian transfer market.

Asante Kotoko are keen to secure Gyau’s services in the next few weeks, and it remains to be seen if they will be successful in their pursuit.
