Bayern Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong has become a major transfer target of several top European clubs.
According to Catalan newspaper “El Nacional, Bayern are working intensively to sign the Dutch-born Ghanaian defender from Bayern Leverkusen.
The 21-year old right-back according to reports fits exactly into manager Julian Nagelsmann’s game plan wants to sign him to strengthen his squad.
Frimpong is lightning fast, good at dribbling and a real weapon both offensively and defensively. The talented right-back cum winger could be used in a back four or three as a right-sided counterpart to Alphonso Davies.
In addition to Bayern, however, there are numerous other interested parties. According to the newspaper, league competitor and long-term rival Borussia Dortmund is also targeting the promising defender.
BVB would also like to improve the right-back position in the summer. Veteran Thomas Meunier is too weak offensively and there is a big question mark behind the Spaniard Mateu Morey after his cruciate ligament injury.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid would also like to have a say in the campaign for Frimpong. Los Blancos have an aging and injury-prone right-back in Dani Carvajal. The first alternative Nacho Fernandez is a trained central defender.
Frimpong switched to the Werkself from Celtic Glasgow for just under €11m last summer and immediately became a regular player under Gerardo Seoane. He has had ten goals in 31 games this season.
Jeremie Frimpong is contractually bound to Bayer until 2025. His current market value is around 20 million euros.
