Cercle Brugge midfielder Abu Francis faces six months on the sidelines after suffering a tear in his meniscus. Francis sustained the injury during last Saturday’s 1 0 win against Standard Liège.
Cercle Brugge paid 1 million euros for the 22-year-old midfielder a season ago. The Ghanaian immediately fell in love and worked his way up to become a key player at the Belgian club as well in the Jupiler Pro League.
This season he has also played an important part in Cercle’s good start.
But against Standard, things went wrong after just 10 minutes. Francis suffered a tear in his meniscus and will be out for about 6 months, according to Cercle Brugge.
”Abu Francis suffered a tear in his meniscus on Saturday and has been sidelined for about 6 months. ”’A victim, especially for @afrancis.8 himself. The entire Cercle family wishes Abu a lot of courage and success during his revalidation.” the club announced via an Instagram post.
The 22-year old talented midfielder is expected to be back on the pitch again after the winter break at the earliest. Abu Francis has featured in his club’s all four opening games so far this season.
