Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim has returned to training with the Porcupine Warriors as the club considers a possible move to bring him back ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season after ending his contract with Ethiopian Coffee, SportsWorldGhana.com can reveal.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper, who is currently a free agent, has been allowed to train with Kotoko’s squad as both parties assess the possibility of a reunion.
Danlad previously enjoyed a successful spell with Asante Kotoko after joining the club from King Faisal. He quickly established himself as one of the most promising goalkeepers in Ghanaian football, earning the trust of supporters with his confidence, reflexes and ability to perform under pressure.
During his time at Kotoko, the goalkeeper played a key role in the club’s 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title triumph, making several important saves as the Porcupine Warriors ended an eight-year wait for the league championship.
His performances at club level also earned him recognition with the Black Stars. Danlad was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and later featured prominently for the national team in international competitions, including the 2023 AFCON tournament.
The former Ghana U20 goalkeeper began his career at Ghana Premier League side King Faisal, where his impressive displays earned him national attention before moving to Kotoko. He also gained international experience through Ghana’s youth national teams, winning the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup Golden Glove award after an outstanding tournament with the Black Starlets.
Known for his shot-stopping ability, leadership qualities and experience at both club and international level, Danlad could provide valuable competition in Kotoko’s goalkeeping department if a permanent agreement is reached.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently rebuilding their squad under new head coach Eric Tinkler as they prepare for the upcoming season, and the return of an experienced goalkeeper could be a significant addition to their plans.
