The league governing body confirmed it has approved a request by the Access Bank Division One League club for a name change.
The outfit have since re-branded on social media as Victory Club Warriors. They also have an all-new crest.
The club, Sportsworldghana.com can exclusively confirm has been sold to the new owners led by former owner of Nkoranza Warriors FC, Leslie Kuku Bartels for an undisclosed fee.
In a letter sighted by Sportsworldghana.com, the Ghana FA stated:
“We acknowledge receipt of a letter from Afeni Football Club Ltd dated 27th June, 2023 requesting for approval for change of your club’s name from Afeni Football Club to Victory Warriors ,” General secretary Prosper Harrison Addo , Esq, stated in a signed letter addressed to Victory Warriors Club.
“The GFA also acknowledges receipts of documents on the change of name to Victory Warriors Club (an incorporated company) from the Registrar General’s Department attached to your request submitted to the GFA under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179).
“Consequently, the official change of name in the FIFA CONNECT SYSTEM shall take effect immediately” the statement concluded.
Meanwhile, owners of the club, have decided to relocate the club to Wenchi, in the Bono Region ahead of the start of the upcoming 2023/23 season.
