Ghana international Ibrahim Sulemana has joined Serie A side Atalanta BC from Cagliari ahead of the 2024/25 season, Sportsworldghana.com can exclusively confirm.
The midfielder rejoined the Bergamo-based club after a successful discussion between Atalanta and Cagliari.
Sulemana was one of Cagliari’s standout performers in his debut season with them after joining from Hellas Verona following their promotion to the Italian top flight.
The 21-year-old started 16 games for the club in Serie A last season and made five substitute appearances. He scored two goals in the 2023/24 campaign for the club under Claudio Ranieri.
His performances for Cagliari earned him a maiden call-up to the Black Stars team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic in June.
He made his debut for Ghana, coming off the bench in the 1-2 away win over Mali and was an unused substitute at the Baba Yara Stadium in the win over Central African Republic.
Signing for Atalanta mean he has returned to the first Italian club he joined after leaving the shores of Ghana before enjoying spells with Hellas Verona and Cagliari.
Atalanta will play in next season’s UEFA Champions League after finishing fourth on the Serie A table last season.
