Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has vowed to elevate his performances ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, insisting he is determined to repay the faith shown in him by supporters and prove he can perform at the highest level.
The 34-year-old enjoyed a memorable breakthrough with the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in all three group-stage matches against Panama, England and Croatia. His assured displays between the posts played a key role in Ghana’s impressive defensive performances and further strengthened his reputation as one of the country’s top goalkeepers.
Speaking to the media, the experienced shot-stopper expressed his gratitude to Ghanaians for their support and promised even better performances in the upcoming campaign.
“This is the time to prove to Ghanaians that I can do it. Once it is my job, I must prove it anywhere because of the love and the way they cheer me. As of now, expect more from me next season,” Asare said.
The former Great Olympics goalkeeper is expected to remain a key figure for Hearts of Oak as they prepare to begin their league campaign against Berekum Chelsea.
Asare joined Hearts ahead of the 2025/26 season and quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper with a series of commanding displays. His excellent reflexes, leadership, aerial dominance and composure earned him a maiden Black Stars call-up before he seized his opportunity on football’s biggest stage.
With the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers approaching in September, Asare will be aiming to maintain his impressive form to retain his place in Ghana’s national team while helping Hearts of Oak challenge for major honours during the new season.
