Samartex has been crowned the champions of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign, securing a whopping GHC500,000 prize money.
The team won the title by beating Bibiani Goldstars in matchday 32, but they were officially crowned champions on Sunday, June 16, 2024, in their final day game against Accra Lions.
In a special coronation match at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex, Samartex inflicted a 2-0 home win over Accra Lions. Emmanuel Mamah scored a stunning goal in the 3rd minute, and Ebenezer Papa Ocran sealed the win with a brilliant goal in the 87th minute.
With this victory, Samartex finished the season with a total of 61 points from 34 games. The team was decorated with their medals at a colorful ceremony in Samreboi, where the atmosphere was electric as they celebrated their league triumph.
As champions, Samartex will take home GHC500,000, while Accra Lions and Berekum Chelsea, who finished second and third respectively, will receive GHC200,000 and GHC100,000. Samartex will also represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League campaign next season.
