The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has included referee Maguette Ndiaye in a list of African top referees selected to officiate matches for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar.

Surprisingly there is no Ghanaian referee in the list announced by the world’s football governing body.

Maguette Ndiaye who officiate Ghana’s final World Cup qualification game against South Africa, made the list of eight African referees selected for the tournament in Qatar.

Fifa dismissed South Africa’s protest following the 1-0 loss to Ghana in their decisive World Cup qualifier in Cape Coast last month, with the country’s football association (SAFA).

Fifa’s Disciplinary Committee decided that the protest was inadmissible, without providing any further details.

SAFA believe they were “robbed” by Senegal referee Maguette Ndiaye and his assistants, who handed Ghana a dubious penalty and made several other doubtful calls.

The result allowed Black Stars to leapfrog the Bafana Bafana to the top of their pool and move into the final stage of qualifying in March for the finals in Qatar in November.

Gambian referee, Bakary Papa Gassama is among the eight (8) referees from Africa who will be officiating the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The top eight referees from Africa have been selected to take part in the 64 games that will be played at the tournament.

Referees selected for the Mundial are Jean Jacques Ndala (RD Congo), Mustapha, Ghorbal (Algeria), Redouane Jiyed (Morocco), Papa Bakary Gassama (Gambia), Balmak Tessema (Ethiopia), Victor Gomez (South Africa), Janny Sikazwe (Zambia), and Maguette N’diaye (Senegal).

They will undergo training for some months ahead of the tournament which kick starts in seven months.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will be held from November 21 to December 18 with the opening game between Senegal and Netherlands.
