In Bandug at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Argentina faced their fellow South Americans in the Round 16 stage with the Argentines comfortably sending Veneuela home.
An own goal from Luis Balbo in the 15th minute put Argentina ahead. Santiago Lopez and Claudio Echeverri added second and third goals in the 22nd and 32nd minutes respectively.
Augustine Ruberto’s brace in the second half added more salt to Venezuela’s injury as Venezuela were beaten 5-0.
Argentina played their best game of the tournament against their fellow South Americans and they won comfortably.
Their next game is against another South American opponent- their eternal rivals, Brazil on Thursday in the Quarter-finals.
