In Jakarta at the Jakarta International Stadium, one of the favourites suffered a very shocking defeat against one of the underdogs of the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.
Uzbekistan qualified for the knockout phase by finishing fourth in the 3rd best-teams table.
They took a surprise lead in the first half through Amid Saidov’s 4th-minute opener as Manchester City’s Joel Ndala equalised in the 35th minute for England.
A sumptuous Ronaldinho-esque free-kick in the 67th minute by Lazizbek Mizraez consigned England to a shock 2-1 defeat to Uzbekistan.
The 2017 champions who were much fancied to lift the trophy have been eliminated by a spirited Uzbekistan.
The winner between France and Senegal will play against Uzbekistan in the Quarter finals.
