Former Black Stars midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has opened up about his emotional and inspiring journey in football, reflecting on the passion, persistence and natural ability that shaped his remarkable career.

Asamoah, widely regarded as one of Ghana’s finest talents of the modern era, represented the nation at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and played a key role at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations, earning admiration for his versatility and consistency.

Speaking in an interview with the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), he expressed the deep connection he still has with the game. “Football has been everything for me, even till date. I just live with football,” he said, capturing the sentiment that has driven him since childhood as quoted by 3news.com

The former Juventus and Inter Milan star also shared insights into his unconventional path, revealing that unlike many Ghanaian players, he did not develop through the traditional youth football system.

“I had the gift. I didn’t play any colts team. I was just playing for fun,” he noted, pointing to his raw talent and natural enthusiasm for the sport.

Now 34, Asamoah reflects proudly on a distinguished career that took him from Liberty Professionals to Udinese and eventually to Juventus, where he won six Serie A titles, four Coppa Italia trophies, and three Supercoppa Italiana crowns, establishing himself as one of the most successful African players in Italian football history.

He stressed that even in retirement, the game remains central to his identity, motivating him to give back through mentorship and football development initiatives.
