Silvio Berlusconi, the former Italian Prime Minister and owner of AC Milan, has passed away, as confirmed by credible Italian news outlets.
According to the reports, the President of Serie A club AC Monza died on Monday, June 12, 2023, at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.
Berlusconi, who had been battling leukemia, was admitted to the hospital on Friday for medical tests.
At the age of 86, Berlusconi was widely known as a media tycoon, politician, and astute football administrator who played a key role in the success of AC Milan.
During his football journey, Silvio Berlusconi developed a close relationship with veteran Ghanaian football administrator Alhaji Abdul Karim Grusah.
In a September 2022 interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Alhaji Grusah revealed their past connection and explained that their relationship deteriorated when Berlusconi became fully involved in politics.
“It all started during the 1991 World Cup. They were interested in players like Gago, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour, and Emmanuel Duah. You know how football and its connections work. Berlusconi and the manager of Maradona were involved. Berlusconi even provided me with funds to acquire land. We cleared the land, but our contact broke down when he transitioned into politics,” Alhaji Grusah said.
