Ghanaian center-back Sherif Mohammed has made the switch to Ethiopian Premier League side Mekele 70 Enderta FC after leaving Asante Kotoko on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old defender has signed a one-year deal with the option to extend after the 2024/25 season. Mohammed joins the Ethiopian side after making 11 appearances in the Ghana Premier League with Kotoko last season. Prior to joining Kotoko, he played for EurAfrica FC and had a trial in France that did not materialize.

During his time with Kotoko, Mohammed featured in 20 Ghana Premier League matches and two CAF Champions League preliminary round games, earning him a call-up to the Ghana national team. He was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2022 CHAN tournament in Algeria, playing in the quarter-final loss to Niger.

Mohammed is the second Kotoko player to make the move to Ethiopia this transfer window, following goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad’s signing with Ethiopia Coffee FC.
