Richard Senanu, the former Asante Kotoko midfielder, is on the verge of making a move to Legon Cities FC for the upcoming 2023/24 league season.
As per Mohammed Shaban, Senanu is set to join Legon Cities FC on a permanent basis, having successfully reached an agreement.
Senanu’s transfer to Legon Cities FC will see him sign on a free transfer, having departed from the newly-promoted Ghana Premier League side Nations FC.
The skillful midfielder initially joined Legon Cities FC (then known as Bekwai Youth Club) in January 2022, subsequent to his release from Asante Kotoko.
Senanu’s time at Kotoko was marred by a career-threatening injury, leading to his surplus status in the team. In 2018, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during a CAF Confederation Cup qualifier against Cameroonian giants Coton Sport. This injury necessitated surgery in Germany, sidelining him for nearly two years.
Despite the setback, Senanu made a triumphant return to full fitness and was named in Mariano Barreto’s squad for the recently concluded season, although he did not participate in competitive matches.
Notably, Senanu played a pivotal role in Nations FC’s successful journey to securing promotion to the premiership in the previous season.
