Former Ghana national team head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, has made his return to coaching by joining the Division One League side, Accra Athletic Football Club, in preparation for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
At the age of 49, Akonnor had been away from coaching since he was relieved of his duties as the head coach of the Black Stars in September 2021.
The former VfL Wolfsburg midfielder has now re-emerged in active coaching and has been overseeing the preparations of Accra Athletic Football Club, a second-tier outfit, for their friendly match against Susubiribi Sporting Club in Akyem Old Tafo, as reported by ghanascoresnet.
Akonnor has been instrumental in guiding the Accra-based club during their pre-season campaign as they gear up for the commencement of the 2023/24 Division One League, scheduled to start next month.
The tactician, who received training in Germany, has previously held coaching positions with several clubs, including Sekondi XI Wise, Hearts of Oak, Dreams FC, AshantiGold, and Asante Kotoko.
