Joseph Alfred Duncan, the former Ghanaian international, was unable to secure his first trophy of the season as Fiorentina suffered a defeat to Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final.
Despite being on the bench, the former Black Stars midfielder did not make an appearance in the 2-1 loss to Inter Milan on Wednesday night at the Stadio Olimpico.
Fiorentina took an early lead in the much-anticipated clash, with Nicolas Gonzalez scoring in the third minute. However, they were unable to maintain their advantage as Inter staged a comeback to claim the title.
Argentine forward Lautaro Martinez played a pivotal role in Inter’s victory by scoring both of their goals. He found the equalizer in the 29th minute and then added his second in the 37th minute.
With no further goals in the match, Inter comfortably secured the victory and lifted the Coppa Italia title.
Duncan and the rest of the Fiorentina team will now shift their focus to the upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League final.
On June 7, Fiorentina will face English side West Ham United in the final of the competition.
