Former Ghana Black Stars and current Sudan head coach Kwasi Appiah is dreaming of taking the The Secretarybirds to the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.

He took the four-time Africa Cup of Nations winners, Ghana to the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil but finished last in his group.

Speaking on his target given to him by the Sudanese FA, the Asante Kotoko technical director revealed that his immediate mandate is to qualify the team for the 2025 AFCON and the World Cup in 2026 which will be hosted in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

“The target I have been given is to build a team and ensure the team qualify for the 2026 World Cup and the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations,” he told Asempa.

“The only challenge is that there is no ongoing league due to the ongoing war which has forced them to operate from Saudi Arabia but I hope order and peace will be restored in the country,” he added.

Sudan will take on Togo and DR Congo in the World Cup qualifiers next month to open their qualifying campaign for the next FIFA Mundial.
