Former Hearts of Oak attacking midfielder Ibrahim Salifu has been offered to Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko as the Porcupine Warriors continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 26-year-old playmaker, who played a key role in Hearts of Oak’s historic domestic double-winning campaign under coach Samuel Boadu, is being considered as a potential addition to Kotoko’s midfield options.
Salifu was instrumental during Hearts’ successful 2020/21 season, helping the Phobians win the Ghana Premier League title and MTN FA Cup. His creativity, vision and ability to unlock defences made him one of the standout performers in the squad that ended the club’s long wait for a league championship.
The attacking midfielder joined Hearts of Oak from Techiman Eleven Wonders and quickly established himself as a vital figure in the team’s attacking setup. His performances earned him recognition as one of the most talented midfielders in the Ghana Premier League.
However, injuries affected his progress after his impressive spell with Hearts, limiting his appearances and consistency in subsequent seasons.
According to his manager, Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanini Barima Kese (Nana Shamo), the former Ghana youth international has been presented as an option for Asante Kotoko as they prepare for the new campaign.
Salifu recently completed his naturalisation process to represent Benin at international level, adding another chapter to his career after previously featuring for Ghana’s youth teams.
With his experience, technical ability and familiarity with the demands of Ghanaian football, Salifu could provide Kotoko with an attacking midfield presence as the club aims to return to domestic glory under new head coach Eric Tinkler.
