Former Asante Kotoko SC striker Franck Mbella Etouga has officially joined Algerian club USM Khenchela, embarking on a new chapter in his career.

The Cameroonian forward, known for his prolific stint with Asante Kotoko where he netted 21 goals to help the team clinch the 2021‑22 Ghana Premier League title, earned accolades as the league’s Most Outstanding Player . His exceptional performances earned praise from coach Prosper Narteh Ogum, who described him as the best player he had ever coached at the club .

Following his breakout year in Ghana, Etouga moved to Egyptian side Al Masry in September 2022 on a multi-year deal valued at approximately $400,000 (€400,000), scoring modestly in his early appearances . He later had loan spells with El Gouna FC and CSF Spartanii Sportul in Moldova during the 2024–2025 season .

USM Khenchela, competing in the Algerian Ligue 1, is in the process of establishing a stronger presence in Algerian football. The club recently entered into a partnership and possible future ownership deal with Algérie Télécom, its new main sponsor, aiming to boost investment and infrastructure ahead of the 2024–25 season .

Etouga’s move to USM Khenchela offers him a fresh start in North African football. His proven goal-scoring history, physical presence, and technical skill are expected to strengthen Khenchela’s attack. The club views him as a valuable addition who can deliver consistent performances at the top level.

His journey—from dominating the Ghana Premier League, to adapting in Egypt and Moldova, and now onward in Algeria—reflects the winding path of a rising African football star. As fans and football watchers across Ghana, Cameroon, and beyond look on, all eyes will be on how Franck Mbella Etouga performs in Algeria’s top flight.
