Ghanaian winger Frank Acheampong made an immediate impact in his debut for Dalian Yingbo, scoring a goal and providing an assist in their 5–3 defeat to Shanghai Shenhua in the opening fixture of the 2026 Chinese Super League season.
The 32-year-old, who joined the club on a free transfer after netting 14 goals with Henan FC last season, wasted no time asserting his influence, contributing directly to two of Dalian Yingbo’s three goals. His clinical finishing and vision on the flank were highlights in an otherwise challenging match for the newly reinforced side.
Despite Acheampong’s individual brilliance, Dalian Yingbo struggled defensively against a potent Shanghai Shenhua attack, conceding five goals and leaving the club with zero points after matchday one.
Acheampong’s performance provides a bright spot for the club’s coaching staff, reflecting his experience and leadership. Having previously starred for Tianjin Teda and Shenzhen FC, the Ghanaian international continues to demonstrate his reputation as one of the league’s most reliable attacking players.
Dalian Yingbo now hope to build on Acheampong’s form as they prepare to face Wuhan Three Towns on March 13, seeking their first points of the season.
