Ghana international Frank Acheampong produced an outstanding performance to help Henan FC reach the semifinals of the Chinese FA Cup competition.
The former Black Stars winger started and played for 68 minutes as his outfit triumphed over Shanghai Shenhua in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
The match, held at the Shanghai Stadium ended 3-3 after extra-time, with Henan FC prevailing on penalties to book a place in the last four.
Acheampong played a pivotal role by registering his name on the scoresheet, contributing to his outfit success in the high-stake clash.
Shanghai Shenhua opened the scoring through Luis Asué in the 29th-minute before the visitors pulled parity in the 33rd-minute mark through Felippe Cardoso as both teams went to the half time break with the advantage.
After the halftime break, the Ghana international found the back of the net to extend the lead for Henan FC after being setup by Yeljan Shinar.
Henan FC were cruising to victory until Wilson Manafa fired home the needed equalizer in the 86th-minute to force extra-time in the highly competitive clash.
During the extra-time, both teams found the back of the net once as the match ended 3-3.
Hanan FC have set up a crucial semifinal tie against Chengdu Rongcheng FC. The match has been scheduled to take place on August 19, 2025.
Acheampong now has one goal from two games in the Chinese FA Cup this season. In all competitions, he has racked up seven goals and provided two assists in 19 appearances.
