Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has applauded Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante for his impressive contribution in their 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough in the English Championship on Saturday.
The victory boosted Coventry’s position, securing them a spot in the playoff race for promotion to the Premier League next season.
With Leeds United and Burnley already confirmed for automatic promotion, four clubs are now competing for the final ticket to the top tier—and Coventry is firmly in the mix.
Thomas-Asante came off the bench to play the final 18 minutes of the match and made an immediate impact by providing an assist. Lampard was full of admiration for the 25-year-old’s performance.
“Big credit to Brandon. He came on and brought strength, pace, and real determination,” said the former Chelsea manager. “He’s been out with injury, but since his return, he’s trained well and kept telling me he was ready. Today, he showed it with a big impact.”
Coventry are now set to face Sunderland in a two-legged semifinal playoff, with matches scheduled for May 9 and May 13, as they aim for a spot in the final and a shot at Premier League promotion.
