Ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification match against Angola on Monday, Nicholas Opoku, a defender based in France, has joined the Black Stars of Ghana in Luanda.
His call-up came about due to injuries sustained by two top centre-backs in the Black Stars’ camp: Alexander Djiku and Mohammed Salisu.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed in a statement that the last-minute addition of Opoku was to provide Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton with more options.
