RC Lens appears poised to part ways with midfielder Salis Abdul Samed when the transfer window opens, following a season marked by underwhelming performances.
Arriving from Clermont Foot in a notable €5 million deal back in 2022, Samed initially made a strong impression at Lens, earning himself a contract extension until June 2028 after playing a pivotal role in the team’s runner-up finish in Ligue 1 and subsequent qualification for the Champions League.
However, the Ghanaian international has struggled to replicate his earlier success this season. Despite high expectations, Samed has faltered, experiencing a notable dip in form that has led to reduced playing time under coach Franck Haise.
While there was once significant interest from other clubs in acquiring the talented midfielder, his recent downturn in performance has cast doubt on his prospects of securing a new team during the upcoming transfer window.
In the current Ligue 1 campaign, Samed has only started 17 matches, with just eight starts in 2024, further underscoring the challenges he has faced in maintaining consistency on the pitch.
