Several Ghanaian footballers secured high-profile transfers during the latest transfer window, with moves across Europe’s top leagues and beyond.
Among the headline deals, Caleb Yirenkyi completed a club-record move from FC Nordsjælland to Coventry City in a deal worth €27 million plus €3 million in add-ons, while Fatawu Issahaku joined Ipswich Town from Leicester City for €20 million plus €3 million in bonuses.
Kojo Oppong Peprah swapped Nice for Turkish giants Fenerbahçe in a €12 million transfer, as Joseph Opoku sealed a €6.5 million move from Zulte Waregem to Swansea City. Jerry Afriyie also secured a €6 million switch from Al-Qadsiah to Belgian side Genk.
Elsewhere, Oscar Naasei completed a €2 million move from Granada to Real Madrid Castilla, while Elisha Owusu joined Erzurumspor from Auxerre for €1 million. David Oduro left Barcelona for FC Annecy in an undisclosed deal, and Aziz Issah made the move from Dreams FC to Barcelona’s reserve side, Barça Atlètic, for an undisclosed fee.
Several Black Stars players also changed clubs on free transfers. Thomas Partey joined Al-Shabab from Villarreal, Gideon Mensah signed for FC Köln after leaving Auxerre, Abdul Mumin moved from Rayo Vallecano to Girona, Kwasi Sibo joined Al-Swehly from Real Oviedo, Derrick Luckassen signed for Crvena zvezda from Pafos FC, and Tariq Lamptey completed a switch from Fiorentina to Queens Park Rangers.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Sulemana joined Sassuolo on loan from Atalanta, while Mohammed Fuseini moved to Derby County on loan from Union Saint-Gilloise.
