Black Stars forward Iñaki Williams has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Ghanaians following the national team’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the overwhelming support from fans as one of the campaign’s biggest positives.
Although Ghana’s journey at the tournament ended in disappointment, the Athletic Club star said he was proud of the commitment, unity and determination shown by the players throughout the competition.
Williams admitted that the team had hoped to achieve much more on the world stage, but believes the renewed bond between the Black Stars and Ghanaians is something the squad will always cherish.
In an emotional message shared after Ghana’s exit, the forward thanked supporters across the country for standing behind the team during every step of the tournament.
“Proud of this team and of all the work we’ve done. 🙏🏿”
Williams acknowledged that the players are disappointed by the outcome but stressed that they gave everything they had in pursuit of success.
“We all wanted more, but seeing the whole country come together again to give strength to the @GhanaBlackstars has been truly special.”
The 32-year-old also praised the unwavering encouragement from fans at home and abroad, saying the unity shown throughout the tournament served as a powerful source of motivation for the squad despite the difficult ending.
Ending his message on a hopeful note, Williams assured Ghanaians that the Black Stars will use the disappointment as motivation to return stronger in future competitions.
