Gelson Fernandes, the Director of Member Associations for Africa at FIFA, has arrived in Tamale in preparation for the GFA Elective Congress scheduled for Thursday.
Accompanied by Silmara Sousa, Development Program Coordinator for FIFA Member Associations Africa, and Ahmed Harraz, Senior Manager of FIFA Member Associations Governance Services, they arrived in Accra on Tuesday and reached Tamale on Wednesday morning, in anticipation of the congress on Thursday.
The Ghana Football Association is set to hold elections on Thursday, October 5, 2023, to choose new executives who will lead the organization for the next four years. The positions to be contested include the Presidency, representatives for the Premier League, and Division One League. Dr. Gifty Oware Mensah is running unopposed as the representative for Women’s Football on the Executive Council.
The elections will take place across the ten regions, where regional delegates will select their Chairpersons, and two of them will subsequently be elected to serve on the Executive Council.
