Swedish-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Genesis Antwi, has received his first senior national team call-up after being named in Sweden’s squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.
The 19-year-old Chelsea defender, currently on loan at French Ligue 1 side Racing Strasbourg, has impressed with his performances, making eight appearances in the league this season.
His impressive displays have caught the attention of Sweden head coach Graham Potter, who has rewarded him with a place in the senior squad alongside his Strasbourg teammate Seb Nanasi.
Sweden will face Bosnia and Herzegovina on November 14 in Stockholm before travelling to take on Poland on November 17 in their Nations League fixtures.
Antwi, who has previously represented both England and Sweden at youth level, will be hoping to make his senior international debut during the November international break.
Despite his Ghanaian heritage, the defender remains eligible to represent the Black Stars under FIFA nationality rules, provided he meets the applicable eligibility requirements.
