German side Eintracht Braunschweig, have announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Christian Joe Conteh ahead of the upcoming 2024/25 season.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder most recently played for VfL Osnabrück and has signed a contract with the Lions until 30 June 2026.
Christian Conteh has also previously featured for FC St. Pauli in the youth ranks before the Hamburg-born player moved to Dutch first division club Feyenoord Rotterdam.
Since 2020, Conteh has had loan spells with clubs including at SV Sandhausen and SG Dynamo Dresden. Last year, the attacker finally moved permanently to VfL Osnabrück.
In total, Conteh can look back on 41 games in the 2nd Bundesliga (six goals, four assists) and 26 appearances in the 3rd division (three goals, three assists) in his career so far.
Benjamin Kessel, sporting director at Eintracht, on the new signing: “Christian brings extreme pace, a lot of depth and a good transition game. These components give us additional quality in attack, and we will also become even more variable with him.”
He added that: ”He has already shown his skills in the 2nd Bundesliga and also has further development potential. We are pleased that we were able to convince Christian to join us and that we will see him in our jersey in the future.”
“I’m happy to finally be here and a lion. I was able to get to know some of the boys from the team today and immediately gained positive impressions. Of course, I want to play in front of this great crowd in Braunschweig and win games together with the team,” said Christian Conteh after signing the deal.
Conteh moves to the Lion City on a free transfer and will wear the number 32 on his jersey from now on.
