German-born Ghanaian youngster Jeremiah Mensah has taken a significant step forward in his career after signing a long-term professional contract with Bundesliga side Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder has committed his future to the German club until June 2031, highlighting the strong belief Leverkusen have in his long-term potential.
Mensah has been with Leverkusen since the age of seven and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects to emerge from their youth academy in recent years.
His steady rise through the ranks has also seen him represent Germany at U19 level, further underlining his growing reputation on the international stage.
Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes praised the youngster’s development, stressing that the club sees him as a future first-team player.
“Jeremiah has shown his qualities in our youth teams many times and has developed really well over the years. We back Jeremiah to establish himself with the first team in the long term and be able to make his mark there,” Rolfes said.
Director of football Kim Falkenberg also described Mensah as a true product of the club’s academy system, pointing to his consistent progress through the youth structure.
The 1.77m midfielder was part of the Leverkusen U17 side that won the West German title in 2024, one of the key milestones in his development.
