Bundesliga side Hoffenheim have identified Ghana international Elisha Owusu as a priority transfer target ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, with the German club closely monitoring his performances at the FIFA World Cup.
According to reports from Africafoot, Hoffenheim are weighing up a move for the 28-year-old midfielder following another consistent and impressive season with French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre.
Owusu has become one of Auxerre’s most important players since joining the club in June 2023, playing a key role in their fight to retain Ligue 1 status this campaign. He has made 29 appearances across all competitions, underlining his importance to the squad.
Sources close to the player suggest Hoffenheim’s recruitment team view Owusu as a strong fit for their midfield rebuild ahead of next season, with his profile matching their tactical requirements.
The German club are believed to have sent scouts to the United States specifically to assess the midfielder during Ghana’s ongoing World Cup campaign, where he is currently representing the Black Stars.
Hoffenheim’s interest follows a season in which Owusu played a crucial role in Auxerre’s successful relegation battle. His composure in possession, defensive awareness, and top-level experience have reportedly made him an attractive option for the Bundesliga side.
Although Owusu remains under contract with Auxerre until June 2027, the French club could consider offers if a suitable bid is made during the transfer window.
