Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Rangers Football Club of Scotland 5-4 on penalties to win the 2022 Europa League.
Frankfurt eliminated FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals stage and now they have proven why they deserved to go through. The Bundesliga side went ahead to kick out West Ham United at the semis before yesterday’s final success.
Ghana legend Tony Yeboah made big name at the German club , scoring 89 goals across five seasons ( 1990 – 1995).
The final match played in Seville on Wednesday night ended 1-1 after 120 minutes and in the penalty shootouts , the German club triumphed with only former Arsenal player Aaron Ramsey missing his kick for Rangers. All the other nine players converted their attempts successfully.
It was Frankfurt’s first European glory for over 40 years – since their last success in 1980 when they won the same competition then known as the UEFA Cup.
