The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Club Licensing Department has released its summary of decisions following the re-inspection of match venues for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season, categorizing stadiums based on their compliance with the Enhanced Safety and Security Protocols.
According to the report, five stadiums have received full approval for Category 3 matches, including Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Dun’s Park in Bibiani, Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Kpando Sports Stadium, and TNA Park in Tarkwa.
However, six venues received conditional approval, meaning they will require further inspection before March 9, 2025. These include Nii Adjei Kraku II Park, Tuba Astro Turf, Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, and Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
On the other hand, two major venues, Baba Yara Sports Stadium and the University of Ghana Stadium, were flagged for safety and security concerns, with the GFA instructing the respective clubs to fix the identified safe zones before their next official matches.
Meanwhile, Berekum Golden City Park, Wenchi Town Park, and AAK II Sports Arena were not approved due to safety and technical reasons and will undergo another inspection on March 9, 2025.
The latest report highlights the GFA’s commitment to ensuring that match venues meet safety and security standards before hosting official games. Clubs with flagged venues are expected to address the identified issues before the next round of inspections.
