The Ghana Football Association has officially announced that Ghana’s national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, will compete in the 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

The global tournament is scheduled to take place in San Juan de los Lagos from November 13 to 22, 2026, with 24 nations expected to participate from different parts of the world.

Ghana booked qualification for the expanded competition alongside six other African countries, securing a place among the continent’s representatives at the prestigious event.

The GFA stated that it will continue collaborating with the National Amputee Football Association of Ghana and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to ensure the Black Challenge are fully prepared ahead of the tournament.

The association also thanked Gold Fields Ghana for supporting the team’s preparations toward the competition.

The Black Challenge will enter the tournament hoping to build on their impressive performances on the African stage while testing themselves against some of the best amputee football teams globally.

African countries that have qualified for the tournament are Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Ghana, Liberia, Morocco and Nigeria.

Africa: Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Ghana, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria

Asia: Iran, Iraq, Japan, Uzbekistan

Americas: Costa Rica, Mexico, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay
