The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially announced the expiration of its contract with Nora Häuptle, who served as the head coach of the Black Queens, Ghana’s senior women’s national team.
In a statement, the GFA expressed its profound gratitude to Häuptle for her contributions to the Black Queens and Ghanaian women’s football. “The GFA wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Nora Häuptle for her service to the Black Queens and Ghana Women’s Football,” the statement read.
During her two-year tenure, the GFA fully covered Häuptle’s salary and accommodation. Under her leadership, the Black Queens achieved notable success, including qualification for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and winning the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup.
The GFA initiated renewal talks in June 2024, offering an improved salary and working conditions ahead of her contract’s expiration on December 31, 2024. However, both parties failed to reach an agreement on the proposed terms.
The GFA assured fans that a new coach will be appointed soon to continue the development of the Black Queens.
