Dr. Randy Abbey, an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
The appointment, made by President John Dramani Mahama, was communicated in a letter dated Tuesday, January 21, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama.
The letter stated:
“I write to formally inform you that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 12(2) of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act, 1984 (P.N.D.C.L 81), has appointed you as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board pending receipt of the Constitutionally required advice of the Board of Ghana Cocoa Board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”
Dr. Abbey’s appointment is effective immediately.
This new role comes shortly after his appointment as Chairman of the newly constituted Black Stars management committee by the Ghana FA. Dr. Abbey’s dual responsibilities highlight his significant contributions to both the nation’s football and economic sectors.
