The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has stood firm on its decision to keep Black Stars’ training sessions closed to fans and the media, despite relocating the pre-2023 Africa Cup of Nations camp from Johannesburg, South Africa, to Kumasi, Ghana.
Responding to public pressure, the GFA altered the camping venue but emphasized that the training sessions in Kumasi would remain private.
In a statement released on Thursday, the GFA affirmed, “The Association is mindful of the request of the Black Stars Technical Team for a quiet and serene camping atmosphere, and thus, the hotel will be strictly inaccessible to the public and the media. Again, the training sessions will be behind closed doors and not available to the public and media. The team will, however, organize a session with the media.”
The revised camp is now scheduled to commence on January 2, 2024, instead of the initially planned date of December 31.
