Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku and Black Stars management committee vice chairman Stephen Appiah have traveled to France to hold discussions with veteran midfielder Andre Ayew regarding his future with the national team.
Ayew has been absent from the Black Stars setup for a year despite maintaining a solid run of form in Ligue 1 with Le Havre. His exclusion has sparked mixed reactions among Ghanaians, with some advocating for his return, while others believe his time with the national team has come to an end.
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo recently explained that Ayew’s omission stems from his preference for other players over the former Swansea City captain. However, this stance was met with strong criticism from the Ayew camp, with family spokesperson Fiifi Tackie calling Addo’s decision “disrespectful.”
In an effort to ease tensions and foster dialogue, the GFA delegation met with Ayew in France to discuss his potential role with the Black Stars moving forward.
Meanwhile, Ayew continues to impress for Le Havre, playing a crucial role in their battle to avoid relegation. He is set to lead the team in their upcoming Ligue 1 clash against FC Nantes on Sunday.
