The Ghana Football Association is expected to name a new head coach for the Black Stars within the next one to two weeks, following an overwhelming response of about 600 applications for the role, according to its president Kurt Okraku.
Speaking for the first time since the dismissal of Otto Addo, Okraku revealed that the FA is fast-tracking the process to secure a replacement as Ghana steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“We will have a new coach in a week or two,” he confirmed in an exclusive interview with 3Sports.
“We have received over 600 applications for Black Stars job, GFA President” he added.
Otto was relieved of his duties after a string of disappointing performances, including defeats to Austria and Germany. The decision was finalised following a late-night meeting in Stuttgart.
Since then, the FA has begun assessing a wide pool of both local and foreign candidates, with several names already being linked to the position as efforts continue to steady the national team.
Ghana are set to take on Mexico and Wales in May, leaving the incoming coach with limited time to evaluate the squad and implement tactical plans ahead of the World Cup.
The Black Stars have been drawn into a tough group featuring Panama, Croatia and England, making a swift and decisive appointment crucial to Ghana’s chances.
