Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC has initiated legal action against sports journalist Wisdom Osei Bonsu, popularly known as “Darling Boy Pierro,” and Kumasi-based Ezra TV/Radio, seeking GH¢200,000 in general damages over alleged defamation.
The suit, lodged at the High Court in Kumasi, also demands aggravated damages, citing what the club describes as malicious intent and repeated publication of defamatory remarks.
In its claim, Hearts of Oak is requesting a court order compelling the defendants to issue a full and unreserved apology and retraction, to be aired on Ezra TV/Radio and published on all the station’s online platforms.
The club is further seeking a perpetual injunction to restrain the defendants and their affiliates from publishing any future defamatory content about Hearts of Oak. The claim also covers legal costs and any additional reliefs the court considers appropriate.
The writ, signed by the club’s legal representative, Alhaji Abdulai Sharif, directs the defendants to enter an appearance within eight days of service or risk judgment being entered against them in their absence.
