Ghana at the World Cup 2026: Discussing Interesting Betting Odds & Markets

On June 17th, the Ghanaian players will take to the field in Toronto for the nation’s 16th World Cup game, as it enters its 5th World Cup. The weight of expectation will be interesting to see, not least because the expanded competition will give Ghana something of an opportunity to either match or improve on its best-ever performance in the competition, coming in 2010 when the Black Stars made it to the quarter-finals and came agonizingly close to beating Uruguay to reach the semis.

There will certainly be some fans backing Ghana to do well, and there will be numerous betting opportunities across the competition. There will be more games – well over 100 – and more betting markets than ever before. But we wanted to look at some of those markets that concern Ghana specifically, both to get an idea of how the team is rated by sportsbooks and to pinpoint some value in the odds. Let’s dive in:

Ghana’s World Cup Odds

It couldn’t happen, could it? Ghana is placed at anything between 250/1 to 500/1 to perform a miracle and win the 2026 World Cup. The Black Stars are given similar odds to nations like Australia and Tunisia. Ghana is, therefore, an outside bet, but that should not deter fans from thinking that a good tournament is impossible.

Ghana’s Top Scorer Odds

There are times in sports betting that a particular player market makes sense, like backing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the NBA MVP odds this season. Yet, we are convinced the market is wrong about having Antoine Semenyo as the 7/4 favorite to be Ghana’s top scorer at the World Cup. Semenyo is a superstar and is finding his feet after a big-money move to Manchester City, but the value bet is clearly Jordan Ayew at 5/1. Aye has scored 14 goals in his last 23 games for Ghana, whereas Semenyo has 3 in 37 games.

Ghana’s Qualification Odds

This is an important market, as it tells us more about what sportsbooks think about Ghana than the more abstract World Cup winner odds. The upshot is simple: Ghana has been given odds of 8/15 on to make the knockout rounds. That’s about a 65% chance of qualifying for the next round, which is a decent vote of confidence.

Ghana’s Group L Win Odds

If Ghana were to win Group L, the door could open to a favorable path through the knockout rounds. England is the clear favorite to top the group, however. Ghana has been given odds of around 10/1, which does not rule it out entirely. Croatia, which Ghana will face in the final game, is placed as the second favorite. Panama (see below) is ranked as the outsider to win the group.

Ghana’s Opening Game Odds

Ghana will open the World Cup against Panama. This game is important for two reasons. First, Panama is the weakest teamin the group, at least on paper, so getting a result is paramount. Secondly, winning this game would likely seal qualification, or at least get Ghana into an almost assailable position. Ghana is priced about even money to take the win, which means that it’s not a given. It will all be about confidence for the Black Stars, though, so should they go into this game and take three points, a brilliant World Cup campaign may unfold.
